    Description

1907 World Series Program (Chicago). One of just a tiny handful of surviving specimens to have been placed upon the auction block, this remarkable publication derives from just the fourth playing of the World Series, an event that brought a thrilling assortment of top Dead Ball talent--Cobb, Three Finger Brown, Crawford, Jennings, Tinker, Evers and Chance among them--into the battle for baseball's greatest prize. One hundred five years ago, a fan purchased this sixteen-page scorebook at Chicago's West Side Park for Game Two of the Series, a game which would prove to be the first win of the Cubs' four-game sweep as Game One had ended in a a twelve-inning tie due to darkness. The interior scorecard is filled out in pencil (all other pages still affixed), detached from the rusty staples but otherwise fine. The program has general handling wear and a vertical center crease from having been tucked into a spectator's pocket, but no tearing, staining or other problems typical of ancient paper. A solid example of a great collecting rarity. From the Roger Marth Collection.
