1886 New York Giants vs. St. Louis Maroons Scorecard - Mickey Welch Cover. Attractive and rare 19th Century scorecard pictures Hall of Famer Mickey Welch on the colorful cover. Issued to and neatly scored by a fan at the Polo Grounds on May 29, 1886 who saw his/her hometown New York Giants down the St. Louis Maroons by a tally of 7-4. This Giants' squad featured an incredible six future Hall of Famers, including Roger Connor, Buck Ewing, Tim O'Keefe, Jim O'Rourke, John Ward, and Mickey Welch. The first five are listed as having played in this match while the sixth, Mickey Welch, appears on the cover. Measures approximately 5.75x7.75" opened. The exemplar has benefitted from professional restoration to the spine and there is some paper loss on the back cover from scrapbook removal. Still, "Home Games at Polo Grounds Season 1886" and the schedule is readily visible.Auction Info
