Rare May 17, 1913 Frank Chance Day Pin Back. For almost two decades, Frank Chance played a prominent role in the success of the Chicago Cubs during the early 20th Century. From 1898-1912, Chance served as first baseman and a third of the famous infield trio with teammates Joe Tinker and Johnny Evers and as player/manager starting in 1905 taking the Cubs to no less than four World series appearances. Offered is a rare "Frank Chance Day" pin back to commemorate a ceremony at Comiskey Park on May 17, 1913 honoring the future HoFer. In 1913 Chance was the manager of the New York Yankees, thus the seemingly odd Comiskey Park location. Measuring 1"in diameter, the pin displays a deep black-and-white portrait surrounded by gently fading copy, The surface remains bright and problem free, the inside surfaces shows some oxidation/rusting. A near-mint beauty with a caveat to the inner surface. Regardless, this is a very scarce presentation in any condition. From the Roger Marth collection.
