    Description

1912 World Series Press Pin (Boston Red Sox). It was one of the most consequential seasons in baseball history. Fenway Park was christened, the New York Highlanders (later the Yankees) first suited up in pinstripes, and the year concluded with one of the most dramatic World Series in the history of the Major Leagues, the Boston Red Sox rallying from one run down in the bottom of tenth inning in the deciding game to score twice against Christy Mathewson and walk off as World Champions. Not until Buckner's nightmare saved the Mets in 1986 would a World Series victor flirt so precariously with defeat, again a meeting of the Boston Red Sox with a Big Apple representative of the Senior Circuit.

Here we present one of the very few surviving press pins from that memorable 1912 Fall Classic, worn by a journalist for the five games contested at the newly-constructed Fenway Park, including the Game Eight clincher. It survives in marvelous condition with no chips to the red enamel and only a few hints of minuscule wear to the golden center seal. Threaded post and original nut appear on verso. An extraordinary specimen of a key hobby rarity. Diameter .75".
