Late 1910's "Shoeless Joe" Jackson Original Photograph by Charles Conlon, PSA/DNA Type 1. Like Claude Monet and his waterlilies, the offered lot finds the master of Dead Ball Era photography studying the most desirable of subjects, the doomed Chicago Black Sox outfielder on the brink of his excommunication. The casual, carefree posture of Jackson in pre-game warm-ups stands in stark contrast to the treachery lurking around the corner. Light editing lines suggest that the photo was utilized in a period publication, and do little to distract from the overarching aesthetic. Verso bears Conlon's stamp as a representative of the New York Evening Telegram, and another attributing it to the archives of The Cleveland News reference department. Light handling/storage wear, but no significant distractions. Dimensions 7.5x9.5". LOA from PSA/DNA, Type 1.
