Early 1940's Baseball Original Broadside News Photograph Album. Approximately fifty oversized news photographs, each including the large paper caption that would have joined the display at period newsstands, are presented in this intriguing bound volume that captures major events of two decades of the National Pastime, both joyous and tragic. We find 1941 images of Ted Williams at the radio mike and Lou Gehrig in his casket. Also here is the dedication of Gehrig's Monument Park plaque, the one that started the tradition. We find a photo of DiMaggio's last at-bat that spelled an end to his fifty-six game hitting streak, and an awesome shot of the first night game at Ebbets Field. Photos range from 11x13" to 14x16" in size and have been served well by a life in a hardbound volume. Perhaps ten of the photos are not baseball related, but are interesting nonetheless.
