David Wells Perfect Game Display Signed by the 1998 New York Yankees. On May 17, 1998 David Wells became the 15th man to pitch a perfect game at the major league level. The display that we present here commemorates the event and includes a photograph that has been signed by his 1998 Yankees teammates including Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera, Andy Pettitte, Orlando Hernandez, manager Joe Torre, Chuck Knoblauch, Jorge Posada, Tim Raines, Paul O'Neill, Joe Girardi, Darryl Strawberry and more.
