    Description

Circa 1941 Fenway Park Photographic Panorama. Masterfully rendered work captures the entire expanse of the Boston baseball temple's outfield wall, from the towering left field wall to the 420 foot marker in deep right. The vastness of the subject would have been far too much for a standard camera, but one enterprising photographer managed to line up five separate shots that seamlessly lead into one another, each print (ranging from 7.5x7" to 7.5x9") hinged to one another by vintage tape on verso to create a piece a full 42" in length. The design of the advertisements for such products as Calvert Whiskey and Gem Blades leads us to place the date in the early 1940's, as does the posted warning to "Read and Heed Air Raid Instructions." This is the view that Ted Williams faced every time he stepped to the plate in those historic early years. Each individual photograph presents as a strong EX-MT or better, creating a panorama just begging to be properly displayed.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
