Circa 1940 Cy Young Signed Photograph. Certain baseball records are time-honored and will never be approached. Joe DiMaggio's 56-game hit streak, Cal Ripken's record of consecutive games and Hack Wilson's 191 RBIs seem to transcend generations. Add Cy Young's win total (511) to the aforementioned unattainable diamond feats. The 300-win plateau is now established as the true benchmark of pitching greatness.

Signed by the man who is featured on the award for pitching excellence, Cy Young penned his identity in black fountain ink on the offered 9x6" photograph. The image is administered to a cardboard backing and encapsulated in a JSA Authentic/Beckett Grading Services slab. Young carefully scripted his name against the light background and included "Peoli Ohio" in 8/10 ink. A minimal crease goes through the bottom part of the "y" in "Cy" and "Young." Following his days in baseball, Young retired to the small town and is buried there as well. The signature captures Young on a ballfield, well past his playing days. The years, and those stock market losses, are starting to show on Young's face as we estimate the vintage as early '40's. Three unidentified men are in his company. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
