Circa 1932 Hack Wilson Signed Baseball Magazine Photograph. After a weak 1931 season with the Chicago Cubs in which the stocky slugger managed not even a third of the still-standing record of 191 runs batted in the previous season, Wilson was dealt to the Brooklyn Dodgers where he enjoyed a fleeting resurgence before fading again. Alcohol abuse would drive him from the game just two years later, and to his grave in 1948 before his fiftieth birthday, leaving precious few autographs of this unlikely Hall of Famer to the collecting community. There's much to love about this particular example, applied to a Baseball Magazine photograph picturing Wilson with fellow Dodgers outfielders Johnny Frederick and Lefty O'Doul. The former has signed as well, his autograph perhaps a shade lighter than Wilson's 8.5/10 offering. The image exhibits some faint wrinkling that does little to distract. Matted to ultimate dimensions of 11x14". Auction LOA from JSA.
