    Description

Circa 1915 Honus Wagner Type 1 Mounted Photograph. From 1897 to 1917, Honus Wagner reigned as one of the kings of the diamond alongside Ty Cobb. While both men receive their fair share of votes as the greatest player in baseball, there is generally no debate that Wagner is certainly, at the least, the best shortstop the game has ever seen. Finishing with over 3,400 hits and a .329 batting average, the "Flying Dutchman" was also a terror on the base paths, stealing 722 bases.

The offered photograph is an original, type one mounted 8x10" photo on 12x14" cardboard. The high degree os silvering backs up the age of the image, which pictures Wagner with a bat sitting atop a "Pittsburgh Base Ball Club" trunk. A top mat is also included, although it is currently loose. It can easily be reglued to the backing. The top mat is torn in one corner, and the overall cardboard is worn and in Fair condition. The only detraction to the image itself is a two inch tear on the right edge. Regardless, this photograph is a strong representation of Wagner that will catch the eye of anyone looking for great 1910's baseball photography.
