Circa 1910 Washington Senators Photographs (Lot of 5). The National League vacated D.C. in 1900 and owner/manager Jim Manning took advantage by moving his Kansas City Blues to the nation's capital as the American League Washington Senators. They had limited success until baseball's first overpowering pitcher joined the club, and led them to a World Series title in 1924. This lot of five photos revels the organizations early days and includes the following:
1913 T200 Fatima Washington Senators - Americans- severe paper loss, missing corners, creases throughout, and spotting on verso.
Vintage 7x5" photo of Jim Manning shaking hands with prominent politician Champ Clark- missing top left corner.
Unidentified player in 3x5" warming up before a game- mounted to cardboard.
Vintage 8x10" Charles Conlon photo of star player Jack Lelivelt taking warm-up swings- minimal wear to corners.
Vintage 8x10" photo of Howard Taft doffing his cap at the 1910 Opening Day- moderate creasing throughout.
