    Description

    c. 1914 Eddie Collins Original Photograph.
Eddie "Cocky" Collins was a member of two of baseball's most storied teams, one legendary and the other infamous. The second baseman and highest paid member of Connie Mack's "$100,000 Infield" Collins helped lead the Athletics to a trio of World Series titles. Following his first stint in the City of Brotherly Love, Mack sold his middle-infielder to the Chicago White Sox for $50,000 in 1914. Five seasons later, while still in Chicago Collins became wrapped up in the Black Sox scandal when the 1919 World Series was thrown by his teammates, but despite his .226 batting average he is believed to have played his hardest.

This 7x9" original photograph shows a crystal clear portrait of Collins during his time with the A's. Encapsulated by CGC, who had deemed the image to be in "Very Fine" condition, the reverse features multiple production markings and the stampings of Culver Pictures, INC. A stupendous piece from one of baseball's often-overlooked Hall of Famers.
