    Description

1961 Photograph From Roger Maris Home Run Number 61. The epic home run race of 1961 saw New York Yankee teammates Roger Maris and Mickey Mantle punish opposing pitchers on a pace to break the Great Bambino's long-standing long ball record of 60. Maris outlasted his Hall of Fame compatriot, blasting number 61 on the season's final day to beat the Red Sox 1-0. This wire photograph shows the anxious fans catching that historic home run. Measures 7x9" with creasing evident throughout.
