1956 Brooklyn Dodgers Mascot Emmett Kelly Photograph. Emmett Kelly was an American institution as well as its most famous clown. He often tried to sweep up the glow cast by a spotlight or crack a peanut with a sledgehammer. His greatest performance, though, was as the sad and beloved Brooklyn Dodgers Bum. After the Dodgers finally won the World Series in 1955, he spent the entire 1956 season in that role as their official mascot. The Bum personified the pain of Brooklyn's history of near misses and symbolized the Dodgers' perennial role as an underdog. Here is a remarkable black and white image of Kelly in his most poignant and memorable role. Standing in the Dodgers' dugout, in full mascot regalia with his hat over his heart for the National Anthem. Matted and framed 14.5x18.5" (8.5x12.5" of visible).

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
