We're aware of no earlier signed baseball image of the man who would become a hero to millions of Baby Boomers throughout eighteen seasons of Bronx service. Here he represents the Independence (KS) Yankees of the Kansas-Oklahoma-Missouri League, which won the Championship that year. Photo is inscribed to a young fan in Independence who likewise supplies a signed team program to this auction. Photo measures 5x7", with 9+/10 ink.
