1947 Babe Ruth Day Original News Photograph, PSA/DNA Type 1. Flanked by manager Bucky Harris and batboy Harry Jacobs, a tired and seriously ill Babe Ruth sits on the bench in the Yankee dugout during Babe Ruth Day on April 27th. In the late stages of the disease that would kill him, Ruth stares off to the side, his optimism and healthy complexion long since departed. Ironically, he is grasping a cigar in his left hand. Attached photo caption is appropriately titled "Memories." Measures 9x7" with white borders and "Associated Press Photo" stamp on back. Light corner and surface wear are but minor distractions to this incredibly poignant image. LOA from PSA/DNA, Type 1.
