1946 Ted Williams All-Star Game Home Run Original Photograph, PSA/DNA Type 1.
Ted Williams helped baseball, and America, return to form in grand fashion at the 1946 All-Star Game. Hosted at Boston's Fenway Park the American League behind future Hall of Famers Feller and Newhouser smothered the National League 12-0.

The Kid paced the AL's offense, setting five All-Star Game records in hits (4), home runs (2), runs (4), RBIs (5), and total bases (10). The offered 7x9" Type I image shows Williams hitting his second home run of the day, this one off Rip Sewell. Sewell was the inventor of the "Eephus Pitch" and in over 300 career games he had yet to yield a round-tripper on it. Williams fouled off the first slow, looping offering and Sewell announced he would be throwing it again -- the greatest hitter that ever lived did not miss, sending the white sphere deep into the stands.

Williams later gave his thoughts on the pitch, saying "A little girl could hit that pitch, but you had to provide all the power yourself." This image alludes to where that power game from, Williams front foot can be seen in front of the batter's box lines and he later admitted to running towards the pitch as it was delivered, and should have been ruled out for leaving the batter's box but instead added another story to his legend.

Original paper caption is intact and attached to the 7-1/8" x 9" and a pair of "World Wide Photos" stamps appear on the reverse. LOA from PSA/DNA, Type 1.
