    Description

1942 Babe Ruth Type I Photo.
Even in retirement Babe Ruth kept his hand in the game. In the mid-1940's Ruth and some of baseball's top names of the past staged War Bond contests as a way of rallying the troops and aiding the war effort. This original 7x9" photo captures Ruth preparing to face off against Walter Johnson in an upcoming War Bond game. The reverse features Wide World Photo stamping and the original paper caption.
