1938 Radio Appreciation Day Minneapolis Millers Team Photo With Ted Williams. In 1936 the Boston Red Sox signed a young man who obviously showed great promise as an amateur free agent. That young man was 17-year old Ted Williams. He spent 1936 and 1937 in San Diego of the PCL where he batted .271 and .291 respectively. 1938 was a break-out year where Williams batted .366 for the Minneapolis Millers. He would make his major league debut the next season with the Boston Red Sox and the rest is baseball history. Collectibles from his pre-rookie seasons are very rare. Offered is an 8-3/4 x 10-1/4" Black & White team photo of the 1938 Minneapolis Miller, a smiling Williams stands tall in the back row (third from left). Made to promote "Radio Appreciation Day" at Nicollet Park, the detailed image of the 20-man squad is mildly interrupted by an inset portrait of Eddie Gallaher - the WCCO MobilGas-Wheaties Sports Announcer. There are light creases and one area of surface loss top center of the reverse. A rare item and a great addition to any Ted Williams collection.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
