1938 Lou Gehrig "Rawhide" Press Photographs Pair. The baseball great Lou Gehrig was a prominent figure in American culture during the 1930s. Not only was he a superstar slugger for the New York Yankees, he also infiltrated the film industry with his 1938 Western film Rawhide. Here we offer a pair vintage prints from Gehrig's role in the film. Rawhide's release coincided with the year that the Iron Horse had to step down and retire from baseball due to the onset of ALS, a disease later named after him. The first measures 8x10" and has identifiers written in ink on reverse. The second measures 7x9" photo and shows the legend Lou Gehrig in cowboy regalia as he poses with a horse. Stamped on verso by Acme Newspictures, Inc., it also has paper caption attached as well.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
