1938 Babe Ruth & Bill Terry Signed Photograph.
The day's newspaper reports noted that the sport's most illustrious figure had retracted his pronouncement that he'd never again set foot in a Major League ballpark--a resentment based upon his perceived mistreatment in failing to earn the managerial job offer to which he felt entitled--in order to help spread the gospel of the approaching New York City World's Fair. That's the president of the New York World Fair Corporation Grover Whalen at Ruth's left shoulder, with Giants player/manager and fellow future Hall of Famer Bill Terry to his right, followed by Christy Walsh, Ed Barrow, Jacob Ruppert and, we believe, Walsh's brother Dick, a noted sports journalist.

We aren't certain who "Virginia" is, but Ruth boldly inscribes the 7x10.5" image to her in 9/10 black fountain pen ink at upper edge of the photo, snapped at the Polo Grounds on Opening Day, 1938. Terry's 7/10 signature is the genuine article in the lower border, but the experts advise us that Barrow has signed for Ruppert to his left. The photo is affixed to a cardboard backing with remnants of the original paper caption. Total dimensions are approximately 9.5x10.5".

You'll find another nearly identical photo, and an example of the trophy being awarded, within this Platinum Night auction. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.

Just wanted to let you know how pleased I am regarding the sale of my hockey jersey. You were great to work with, you answered all my phone calls and e-mails in a prompt manner, and you did a great job marketing the jersey.
