    Description

1936 Joe DiMaggio Original Negative by George Burke. A twenty-one-year-old DiMaggio is captured in this lovely portrait shot during his rookie season of 1936 when he recorded twenty-three homers, 125 runs batted in, and hit .323. One of the most famous sports photographers of all time, George Burke understood the media and public's demand for photos of athletes. He began shooting baseball players in the 1920's, and would go on to leave a legacy of classic images, both portraits and action shots, usually of individual players instead of groups. Many Burke photos ended up as the central image on cards produced during the same time. The bottom of the negative has a small corner chip that does not affect the central image and can be easily matted out, otherwise NRMT. Just under 5x7" in size and on Eastman Kodak Safety Film. Still suitable for making quality prints.
