1932 "Shoeless Joe" Jackson Original News Photograph, PSA/DNA Type 1. A common belief is that "Shoeless Joe" Jackson hung up his cleats for good after the 1920 season in which he was banished from baseball. Here in this lot we have proof to the contrary--a period news service photograph of Jackson playing with the Greenville Spinners in 1932. It is believed that Jackson continued playing after his banishment for several non-Major League squads, often under an assumed name. Image shows Jackson in the dugout with his famous "Black Betsy" bat, a wary eye turned towards the photographer, probably wondering if he would be outed as breaking his banishment.

The photograph measures right at 5x7" and exhibits two stamps on the verso: "Sargeant Photo Company" and "N.E.A." with a date of "Aug 9th, 1932." A notation in pencil confirms it is Jackson pictured with "Black Betsy" while playing with Greenville on vacation. A stunning photograph that begs to be matted and framed and shown off in a museum, man-cave or sports bar. Original images of Jackson remain very scarce and supply can never keep up with demand, making this a superior investment piece. LOA from PSA/DNA, Type 1.
