    Description

1930's Christina & Heinrich Gehrig Vintage Photograph from The Lou Gehrig Collection.

UPDATE: This lot includes a letter of provenance from the consignor.

Lou Gehrig always maintained a close relationship with his parents although if his mother had her say, baseball would have been given up early on. She wanted her son to become an architect. Christina and Heinrich Gehrig, with the family dog, are featured on this 8x10" vintage photograph. The dog was actually a gift from The Bambino. A crease is visible an inch from Mr. Gehrig's head. The reverse has a pasted caption with the following notated: "Mom" + "Pop" Gehrig Lou's Mother + Father And "Jige," A Dog Given To Mrs. Gehrig By Babe Ruth." Handling wear present on the white perimeter. Letter of provenance from consignor.
