Description

1930's-80's Babe Ruth & Mickey Mantle Dual-Signed Photograph. The Mick first donned the pinstripes three years after Babe Ruth's passing at age fifty-three, so it should go without saying that dual-signed items from the top two men on the Yankees home run ladder are virtually nonexistent. This is the only example we've ever encountered, a photograph snapped at the 1934 All-Star Game that found Ruth seated in the dugout next to Hall of Fame Detroit Tigers catcher Mickey Cochrane.

Ruth actually inscribed this image to Cochrane himself, his 5/10 black fountain pen ink reading, "To My Pall Mickey, Sincerely Babe Ruth." Decades later, a subsequent owner of this photo presented it to Mantle who inscribed it in blue sharpie, "Mickey Cochrane--This is the man I was named after, Mickey Mantle." That writing has faded to about 3/10. The 8x10" photo is itself a masterpiece, even forgetting the outrageous autograph pairing and the fact it was originally owned by Cochrane. Simple wooden frame finalizes dimensions at 10x12". Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
