    Description

1930's-40's George Burke Photographs Lot of 245. Massive assemblage of stunning photographic works could only derive from the lens of the era's preeminent baseball photographer, the man responsible for many of the images used in the famed Goudey baseball card sets of the Depression era. The offered photos are printed in Burke's standard 4x6" format and bear his personal "Geo. Burke, 847 Belmont Ave., Chicago" stamping and typed player identification on virtually all. In rare instances he reproduces earlier images of fellow legend Charles Conlon and others, though these too are considered highly collectible. Twenty-seven Hall of Fame photos are featured, as follows: Appling (four different), Averill, Chesbro, Clarke, Clarkson, Cochrane, Cronin, Dickey (two different), Doerr, Feller, Ferrell, Foxx, Frisch, Gehringer, Gomez, Goslin (two different), Grove, Lopez, McCarthy (two different), Ruffing (two different). Condition is marvelous throughout, with no noteworthy flaws. Gigantic breakdown value here, or your own personal time machine back to a very special time in our National Pastime.
