1929 Babe Ruth "Opening Day" Original News Photograph, PSA/DNA Type 1 - Ruth's First Home Run of the Season & Yankees First Game in Numbered Jerseys! Over 50,000 fans watched the Yankees trounce the BoSox 7-3 on Opening Day 1929 in The Bronx. Ruth is seen being congratulated by fellow marauder, Lou Gehrig, as he crosses home plate after his first clout of the season in the first inning. This was the first game in which the Yankees wore uniform numbers on their jerseys, as evidenced by the "4"-backed Gehrig shaking The Bambino's hand. Photo measures 8x10" with "World Wide Photo" stamp and paper caption (detached) on back. Small border chip and tear and light surface wear. Full LOA from PSA/DNA, Type 1.
