1929 Babe Ruth on Opening Day News Photograph--First Yankees Game in Numbered Jerseys! In the same manner that the mighty Yankees conquered their primary rival in their first Bronx contest in 1923, Ruth and the boys defeated the Boston Red Sox on Opening Day of 1929. Here we find the Babe crossing the plate to post the second of the home team's seven runs as teammate and fellow Hall of Famer Tony Lazzeri looks on. The fact that Lazzeri is so easily identifiable from the back is what turns this image into such a treasure--this image was snapped the first day that the Yankees wore numbers on their jerseys, as the paper caption on verso identifies the contest as Opening Day of 1929. Though we can't see it from this angle, the number "3" on the Babe's back made its debut here! Image measures 8x10", with some light rippling which will be invisible upon display. Type 1.

Just wanted to let you know how pleased I am regarding the sale of my hockey jersey. You were great to work with, you answered all my phone calls and e-mails in a prompt manner, and you did a great job marketing the jersey.
