1927 Babe Ruth & Lou Gehrig Wire Photograph from the Casey Stengel Collection. This may well be our very favorite photograph of this pinstriped pair that we've ever seen. Though a picture is worth a thousand words, we'll add a few more, and fawn over the piece in much the same way that Lou and the Babe fawn over the adorable baby that poses with them. Image quality is just outstanding, with the season's M.V.P. and its home run god rendered in crystal-clear contrast. A somewhat damaged paper caption on verso, dating the image to "7-2-27," notes that Gehrig is leading the home run race with twenty-six, and that the youngster in the shot is the "nation's finest baby." The exceptional charm and quality of the image is impossible to deny, and while the left border has been trimmed, and minor chipping is present at the top border, the image area itself presents as flawless. As if the photo needed any further appeal, it is granted such by virtue of its former life on the wall of the great Casey Stengel. Measures 8x10".
