Description

1927 Babe Ruth & Lou Gehrig Original Photograph, PSA/DNA Type 1. The New York Yankees' buzzsaw ran right through the competition in 1927. Known to the baseball world as Murderers' Row, the squad tallied 110 wins and swept through Pittsburgh in the World Series. Following the team's October triumph, Lou Gehrig and Babe Ruth staged a number of exhibitions. Their travels included a stop at the American Milling Company Plant in Omaha, Nebraska - a mere eight days after winning the championship. This original 8x10" shows Gehrig, with a chicken carefully placed in his grasp, Ruth and two plant officials as a number of fans look on. This is one of the rare occasions where Ruth didn't take center stage. It was the World Series MVP, Gehrig, who was given top priority. The back features the following: "Dewell Commercial Photographer" (stamp), "Dec 9 1927" (date stamp) and production notes. Transparent tape helps secure a crack on the lower right corner. LOA from PSA/DNA, Type 1.
