1927-30 Babe Ruth Signed Photograph to Eddie Collins. UPDATE: This lot is accompanied by a Full LOA from PSA/DNA.

In this incredible signed image from one Hall of Famer to another while both were still active players, a pinstriped Bambino follows through in the house that he built at a time when he was at the height of his powers and fame and the Yankees and Athletics were the two best teams in all of baseball.

Signed in black fountain pen "Best Wishes To Eddie Collins From Babe Ruth." While the inscription is bolder than the autograph, both are attractive, very visible and display well, averaging an overall 6/10.

An Ivy League graduate with a lifetime .333 bating average over twenty-five seasons, Eddie Collins was a six-time World Series Champion, captain of the most infamous team in baseball history, and a member of the 1939 Hall of Fame class. In addition to being one of the most highly skilled players to ever set foot on a baseball diamond, he was also one of the smartest and most valuable.
In fact, in the seven seasons when he was healthy and there was a league A.L. MVP awarded, Collins finished in the top six in all seven years, winning the honor in 1914.

While we will never know whether this exemplar came into being on Ruth's initiative or through Collin's request, the transaction almost certainly took place sometime during Collins' second dynasty stint with Mack's Men from 1927-30. This statement makes perfect sense when you consider Ruth's physique, the absence of quotation marks in his autograph (which he first transitioned away from in 1927-28), and the original frame which bears a vintage "Fine Art Pictures and Framing. John Wanamaker, Philadelphia" label on the verso. Framed 7x8.75" (6x7.75" visible in frame). Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Full LOA from SGC Authentic.
