1923 Babe Ruth at Opening Day of Yankee Stadium Original News Photograph, PSA/DNA Type 1. It's one of the most significant Ruth images that exists, for a number of reasons. Most notably, of course, it dates to the Grand Opening of the original Yankee Stadium, a church to the religion of our National Pastime aptly nicknamed, "The House that Ruth Built." It also bears mentioning that this event marked the first day of what would prove to be the first of twenty-seven franchise World Championships to date.

Finally, trading card experts will recognize the pose as the one used for the second card of the 1933 Sport Kings trading card issue, a key entry from the earliest days of the Bubble Gum era of the hobby. That's President Warren G. Harding who shakes Ruth's hand in this 6.75x8.5" sepia-toned shot. Back exhibits evidence of removal from a scrapbook, and a small touch of ink appears at lower right edge, but otherwise no condition issues of note. LOA from PSA/DNA, Type 1.
