    Description

1922 John McGraw Wire Photograph by Thompson, Type 1. Haunting portrait pictures the Hall of Fame manager aged well beyond his forty-nine years by a rough-and-tumble baseball life. A handwritten notation on verso dates the image to the second of two consecutive World Championship seasons, and stamping attributes the image to famed baseball photographer Paul Thompson, and to the archives of "The Ring" magazine. The 5x7" shot shows minor wrinkling in the wide white borders, but nothing that infringes upon the remarkable image. Confirmed as "Type 1" by PSA/DNA.
