    Description

1921 Cleveland Old Timers' Day Panoramic Photograph with Young & Lajoie. Perhaps the most exceptional convergence of Dead Ball Era talent ever to join forces on a single diamond, even if they were a bit past their prime when this remarkable photograph was shot. Header above this line-up of aging legends reads, "Old Timers Base Ball Team, Cleveland, Ohio's 125th Anniversary, Dunn Field, July 29, 1921, Old Timers 11 -- Former Amatuers (sic) 8." Among those pictured, with name and position scripted below, are Jesse Burkett, Chief Zimmer, Neal Ball, Cy Young, Napoleon Lajoie, Elmer Flick and Nick Altrock. Contrast and clarity is just brilliant, as is the condition of this ancient artifact, with just a few very minor creases that are only visible at certain angles to the light. Viewable image measures 7x26.5", with professional matting and framing bringing the overall dimensions to 16x36".

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
