    Description

1920's Ty Cobb Original Negative by George Burke.

The Georgia Peach is seen on the dugout steps, late in his career, sorting through a slew of bats laid out before him; a felt, gothic "D" resplendent on his left chest. One of the most famous sports photographers of all time, George Burke understood the media and public demand for photos of athletes. He began shooting baseball players in the 1920's, and would go on to leave a legacy of classic images, both portraits and action shots, usually of individual players instead of groups. Many Burke photos ended up as the central image on cards produced during the same time. Just under 5x7" in size and on Eastman Kodak Safety Film. NRMT condition and still suitable for making quality prints.
