1920's-60's Rogers Hornsby News Photographs Lot of 38. The greatest right-handed hitter in baseball history (and most likely the game's greatest second baseman), Rogers Hornsby recorded a lifetime .358 batting average and a single season mark of .424. During the Roaring Twenties, The Rajah roared with seven batting titles, two league MVP's, two Triple Crowns, and a World's Championship. The news photographs on offer here document his life as a player, coach and private citizen, including accepting awards for his 1929 MVP season; his broken ankle in 1930; on his farm; at coroner's inquest; instructing batters for the Browns, Cardinals, Indians, Tulsa Oilers, Reds, Cubs, and Mets, including Harland Clift, Roy Sievers, Ted Kluzuski, Frank Howard, and Ernie Banks; and with Paul Waner, Pie Traynor, Marty Marion, Eddie Stanky, Bill Veeck, and Warren Giles. Sizes range from 5.5x3.7" to 11.5x8.25". Standard news photo wear, tags, and stamps. Overall EX-MT.
