    Description

1920's-50's Wire Photographs Lot of 50 with Ruth, Gehrig. Comprised almost entirely of very desirable action shots, the few diversions from this theme are anything but disappointing. Best is a moving portrait of Gehrig in the dugout on the day of his famous farewell. Other highlights: Ruth in pinstripes taking batting practice in 1925, 1941 Yankees pitchers, and Willie Mays' 1954 World Series "Catch." Action shots include mesmerizing images of Hartnett, Lombardi, Gehringer, Greenberg, Wills, Pee Wee Reese, Medwick and many more. Lots of close plays and dirt-spraying slides. Photos range from 6x8" to 8x10", with the vast majority on the larger side. Condition is a marvelous EX-MT average throughout, with not a single photograph exhibiting significant problems.
