1919 Smoky Joe Wood Original News Service Photograph by G.G Bain, PSA/DNA Type 1. Had a freak injury not occurred to the flame throwing righty during the 1913 season, Smoky Joe Wood seems to have been destined for Cooperstown. In limited action he recorded a 2.03 ERA, won 34 games in 1912, and captured a trio of World Series titles - with a .283 batting average after switching to the outfield to boot. 1919 original news service photograph shows Wood warming up while in his outfielding days with the Cleveland Indians. Taken by George Grantham Bain the image measures 4.6" and exhibits mild wear with corner wear as well as toning on the reverse above the various stampings. LOA from PSA/DNA, Type 1. Encapsulated by PSA/DNA, Type 1.
