    Description

1917 Ty Cobb Original Photograph by George Grantham Bain - Cobb Gives The Middle Finger, PSA/DNA Type 1. Ty Cobb was intimidating. He was also incredibly exciting. Aside from being the best hitter the game has ever seen, he was undeniably its most daring and aggressive base-runner. He once stole three bases on three consecutive pitches. Three times he stole three bases in the same inning and thrice he was the lead man on a triple steal. Here, photographer George Grantham Bain shows us Cobb posing for his lens at Navin Field.

A couple of things stand out here. Tyrus looks so confident and sure of himself as he casually leans on his bat and sets his steely stare on the camera. Also, the fabulous 1917 waving flag patch can be clearly seen on his left sleeve. And third, Cobb is casually flipping off the camera. His middle finger is extended against the bat. Measures 4x4.75". The bottom right corner is chipped while the upper right corner shows slight paper loss. "Culver Pictures Inc," "June 6, 1917" date stamp and three notations appear on reverse. LOA from PSA/DNA, Type 1.
