1916 Walter Johnson Original News Photograph by George Bain, PSA/DNA Type 1. More than 40,000 of his glass plate negatives are housed at the Library of Congress, but original prints from this illustrious photographer are rare and highly coveted. This masterful portrait of the Big Train is a fine example of Bain's peerless skills, an expertly rendered 5x7" original period print that finds the Senators ace in the final year of a four-season domination of the American League victory chart. "Culver Service" stamping and stickers appear on verso, with typed text dating the image to "April 18, 1916." Small chip to upper left and small bend to lower right corners cause little distraction. One of the finest Johnson images known. LOA from PSA/DNA, Type 1.
