    Description

1914 Baseball World Tour Banquet Type I Photograph. Documenting the finale of the Chicago White Sox and New York Giants' world barnstorming tour in 1913-14, this original Type I photograph celebrates the homecoming of the teams in 1914. Taken by the Schlesinger Studio in New York City, the picture is marked "Dinner in celebration of the homecoming of the world's tour players, Hotel Biltmore, March 7, 1914." It shows hundreds of men sitting at banquet tables, with a buffet set out on one side, in one of the grand rooms of the Biltmore. Ted Sullivan, player-manager, authored a book about the tour entitled "The Tour to End All Tours." Overall framed dimensions are 16.5x24.5."
