1912 Washington Senators Panoramic Photograph. Just three days after Boston's legendary Fenway Park hosted its first Red Sox game against the New York Yankees, the Big Train would roll into town with the rest of his Senators for their first glimpse of the state-of-the-art baseball palace. The chilly Spring weather is evident in the sweaters worn by almost all of that day's eventual victors, who pose against a sparsely populated grandstand of freshly painted seats. The great Walter Johnson stands eighth from left, just a few bodies down from the notorious Chick Gandil, whose name would become a household word following the 1919 Black Sox scandal. The photo exhibits a degree of spotting, staining and creasing, but our catalog imagery should properly indicate that the overall visual appeal is still quite strong. The original frame is present, and likewise bruised but unbeaten. A rarely seen panorama for the serious baseball photography collector. Framed dimensions 10.5x32".
