    Description

1912 Adrian "Cap" Anson Cabinet Photography Display. One of the most significant figures of the 19th century game, Anson's immortality is ensured by his role as founder of the 3,000 Hit Club. The presented images date from early in his retirement, as Anson shifted from ballplayer to a career as a public servant, investor and even vaudevillian actor. The pair of photographs derive from the "White" studios of Manhattan, whose stamp appears in the lower margin of the 7x11" cardboard mount. The photos of Anson in formal wear were reproduced for a vaudeville advertisement, which is matted and framed below the cabinet photos. The photos exhibit a degree of foxing and expected edge and corner wear, but nothing that distracts significantly from the display. Framed size is 22x33". Third party shipping required.
