1910's Ty Cobb Studio Portrait Photograph by C.M. Hayes from The Ty Cobb Collection, PSA/DNA Type 1. Clarence M. Hayes was the most famous photographer in the city of Detroit for decades, having been commissioned by the Detroit Museum of Art in 1898 to photograph four hundred of the city's most illustrious residents for permanent display. Clearly this shot of the city's most illustrious ballplayer dates to some years later, as Cobb rookied with the 1905 Tigers. But the mastery of the work explains Hayes' local renown. He signs his work at lower right. Image dimensions are 6x4", with the full print measuring 9.5x6". In original folio. Fine condition. Letter of provenance from family of Cobb's former teammate. LOA from PSA/DNA, Type 1.
