    Description

1909 Pittsburgh Pirates Panoramic Photograph. A spectator's eye view from the right field bleachers of the first contest at Pittsburgh's Forbes Field is provided the viewer of this tough supplement issued by The Index, Pittsburgh's Illustrated Weekly just after the June 30th event. The impressive 14x40" size of the supplement is enhanced by a simple framing job which expands the final dimensions to 16.5x41". Below the panoramic image of the field of play are small photographic vignettes picturing the eventual World Champions of the 1909 season, most notably the great Honus Wagner pictured in the pose utilized for his famous T206 trading card. Supplement bears original folds as issued but otherwise survives with remarkable success, displaying no flaws worthy of note. Third party shipping required.

    The Paddy O'Connor Collection.

This is one of sixteen lots deriving from the personal collection of Paddy O'Connor, a native of County Kerry, Ireland who quickly discovered an aptitude for our National Pastime upon his immigration to the States. O'Connor's baseball career included brief terms in the American, National and Federal Leagues, and most notably membership with the World Championship 1909 Pittsburgh Pirates. The material offered here is consigned directly by the O'Connor family.
