    Description

1908 Ty Cobb Original News Photograph by Thompson, PSA/DNA Type 1. Early image of the Georgia Peach is the work of esteemed Dead Ball Era photographer Paul Thompson, whose fingerprints (presumably) transferred from the negative to the image here, a thrilling documentation that assigns the work to Thompson as directly as his studio stamping on reverse. The subject is a rare fielding pose for the pre-war game's most prolific hitter still in the first quarter of his storied career. Light wrinkling near top of image is only apparent at steep angles to the light, otherwise the 5x7" image presents without any distractions. Circles at lower corners are within the negative like the aforementioned fingerprints. Image is dated on reverse in pencil, almost certainly by Thompson himself. LOA from PSA/DNA, Type 1.
