1908 Chicago Cubs Team Panoramic Photograph. We've seen this image before, but never in its original photographic context. You might recognize it as well, as the image is reproduced in the highly collectible 1908 panoramic print "A Yard of the National Game." You can check our Auction Archives to see an example--Lot 19429 in Auction #704 (May 2006). But whereas that panorama was printed on paper, likely a supplement to a periodical of the day, this is the gorgeous, glossy photographic original.

The print supplies a key for the names that this photo does not, so you can refer to that archived lot if you need help. Some will be instantly recognizable, like the famous double play trio of Tinker, Evers and Chance, and the stern-looking Hall of Fame pitcher Mordecai "Three Finger" Brown. There are condition issues, and we advise interested bidders to visit our website to view our ultra-high resolution images. A few cracks snake through the image vertically, and ancient tape appears at upper left and bottom right. Several other strips of clear tape are more difficult to see. This is the 1908 Cubs though, the last Championship team, so you should be ashamed of yourself for quibbling about condition! And the fine aesthetics shine through anyhow, despite the occasional blemish. If you truly consider yourself a Chicago Cubs fan, this is a must-win situation. The wait for another might well mirror the wait for another World Championship. Framed 8x32.5". From the Roger Marth Collection.
