1905 Roger Bresnahan World Series Photographs from Personal Scrapbook with Lou Criger Poster. Roger Bresnahan moved around a decent amount during his Major League career, including stints with the Cubs, Senators, Orioles and Cardinals, but it was his time with the New York Giants that saw the most success. The 1905 season culminated in a World Series victory over the Athletics. This lot begins with five double-sided pages from his personal scrapbook with twenty-three original photographs mounted on paper. The three photos that are dated are all from the World Series of 1905, and it seems safe to assume the bulk of the scrapbook dates from that championship season or close to it.

One of the best gems in this lot is a photo of the Giants' battery of Bresnahan and Christy Mathewson taken in Philadelphia October 9th, 1905 prior to the start of the first game of the series, in which Mathewson bested Eddie Plank 3-0. From the fifth and final game of the World Series, there is a picture of Bresnahan and James J. Corbett holding the Irish flag. Two crowd shots from the series are mounted, as well as a dugout shot of Bresnahan and a picture of him wearing a "World's Champions" jersey (with the inscription "My World's Champion - A.M.B. (Bresnahan's wife, we presume). A Carl Horner portrait completes the first page of the scrapbook -- the same photo used on Bresnahan's 1906 Fan Craze card. Several additional shots of Bresnahan in full catcher's gear are on other pages, along with numerous action shots, portraits and team/group pictures. Scrapbook pages are brittle, but most of the photos are in the Good to Excellent range.

Also included in this lot is a 1930 Lou Criger Appreciation Poster, with facsimile signatures from forty-four top baseball stars. Several horizontal folds are on this piece. Letter of provenance from the Bresnahan family.
