1888 New York Giants Team Photograph by Joseph Hall. Glorious sepia-toned photograph is one of the finest ever to capture a professional baseball team, capturing the first World Championship team in 133 years and counting of franchise history. Among the legends pictured against a backdrop of the original Polo Grounds are Buck Ewing, Roger Connor, Jim O'Rourke, Tim Keefe and Mickey Welch, with manager Jim Mutrie in black jacket and hat at center. The man responsible for the image is a legend in his own right, a Brooklyn-based photographer whose work populates many of the earliest tobacco card issues. The photo is printed on thin photographic stock and exhibits a repaired tear that enters the image near the center of the right edge. Otherwise, light edge and corner wear, and curling of the thin stock, are the only condition issues to report. Dimensions 7x9.5".

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
